Rather than your normal blog primarily on the show Smackdown!, this blog will be my thoughts on this past Sunday’s WWE Pay-Per-View, “Cyber Sunday”, which featured matches with RAW, Smackdown! and ECW stars.

If you’re not familiar with “Cyber Sunday”, it’s WWE’s Interactive pay-per-view in which fans can text in their votes to vote for opponents, match stipulations, special guest referrees. etc. Normally the WWE seems to push for the superstars they want to be in the match by cutting promos and having commentators suggest who they would like to see in the match. But it truly is up to the fans and what they would like to see.

One of the matches that I voted for that was selected was Cryme Tyme vs. The Miz and Morrison. Morrison got the pinfall on Shad to win the match. The reason I picked this one was because the four superstars involved are so much more interesting to watch than what our other choices were. One of the choices was Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase against CM Punk and Kofi Kingston. Now, I’ll admit that they’re all good wrestlers and Kofi is surprisingly athletic, but they are all really boring. It’s nice to see a good wrestling match, but when all four wrestlers don’t really say a whole lot and you don’t get to know them, they just become people wrestling and you don’t know who to cheer for. Cody and Ted are supposed to be bad guys, but I really wouldn’t mind seeing them beat up CM Punk. He doesn’t add anything to the show in my opinion.

One match I was looking forward to seeing was the match in which Santino Marella would defend his title against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper”, Goldust or The Honky Tonk Man. I’m not surprised the fans voted for the Honky Tonk Man since Santino has been talking about his Honk-O-Meter, and how Honky Tonk Man is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. It was really kind of what I thought would happen. Santino got the upper hand, even though he lost the match. He kept his belt because he lost due to disqualification, and then Goldust and Roddy Piper came out to triple team Santino. Definitely a nostalgic feel-good moment. I hope that at least Goldust sticks around the WWE for awhile.

The Diva Costume Contest was really lame in my opinion. I know it’s how they get the divas onto the Pay-Per-View, but it honestly is just a waste of time. I (like any guy), loves to see attractive women in costumes, but when it keeps talented wrestlers off of the Pay-Per-View, it’s just disappointing. I’m glad that Mickie James won the match. Hopefully the WWE will see that people actually like her and they should have her wrestling in more matches. But costume contests? Let

This past Friday on Smackdown!, they were getting ready for WWE’s Interactive Pay-Per-View, “Cyber Sunday”. This is the one pay-per-view when the fans get to vote on opponents, stipulations for matches, referees, etc. One of the matches on the card is going to be The Undertaker vs. The Big Show. You can pick from a “Knockout” match, an “I Quit” match and a “Last Man Standing” match. Big Show has delivered multiple knockout shots to the Undertaker, and no doubt would be favored in that kind of match. As for me, I’m going to vote for the “Last Man Standing” match. Both athletes will fight until one of them cannot make it to their feet before the count of ten. I really believe the Undertaker can dish out more punishment than the Undertaker will be able to handle.

On one of the more fast-paced matches of the evening, Carlito and Primo defended their WWE Tag-Team Championships against Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder. The match was a good one. Definitely had exciting elements to it. Carlito and Primo continue to work well together. But in my opinion, the WWE needs to do more with Hawkins and Ryder. They are athletes, but have absolutely no charisma whatsoever. They are just some cronies for Edge, but when he’s not around, they’re almost useless. Honestly, I don’t see either one of them getting their own title in the future simply due to the lack of charisma, character and ability to get reaction from the fans. I really would suggest that they learn to market themselves to become real superstars.

R-Truth defeated MVP in a solid match-up. However MVP needs to get his head in the game. He hasn’t won a televised match in almost two months. For an athlete of his caliber, and a former United States Champion, one would assume he could win more matches. Maybe this is just a fluke losing streak, but his credibility is certainly dwindling. Most people don’t like him due to his arrogant nature, but I am actually a fan. He’s everything a WWE wrestler should be. He’s got the look, the skills in the ring and on the mic. I would suggest he has a conversation with some of the bosses (Smackdown! GM, or Vince McMahon himself), to maybe get another title shot. That might get him to become a serious contender again in the eyes of his peers and the fans.

The rising tag team of Jesse and Festus came out of the backwoods to become a truly formidable team. Festus is an absolute powerhouse that can absolutely destroy most other competitors on the show. Jesse hardly needs to do anything aside from making sure that his partner makes it to the ring. However, this week, their opponents weren’t anything to brag about. Ryan Braddock, a relative new-comer teamed with Kenny Dykstra. Since leaving the Spirit Squad more than a year ago, Kenny really hasn’t found his spot on the roster. I really think he might want to call back the Spirit Squad and find the glory that he used to have.

And lastly, getting ready for Cyber Sunday, Vladimir Kozlov powered over Jeff Hardy. He has some momentum in his corner if he was to challenge Triple H for the Championship, but that’s all dependant on the fans voting. You can vote for Jeff Hardy to face Triple H, Vladimir Kozlov to face Triple H, or a triple threat match with all three competitors. I would prefer another Jeff vs. Triple H match. Both of them could have a great match together. Vladimir is just a big guy. Very strong, but not the best wrestler per se.
